Artist: Jean-Claude Moschetti En 2013, Jean-Claude Moschetti s’est rendu en Sierra Leone pour explorer l’univers des sociétés secrètes de masques. Pour approcher cet univers difficile d’accès, il a notamment été guidé par le sculpteur John Goba, artiste de renommée internationale qui concevait également des costumes pour ces sociétés. Dans la cour de sa maison, à Mountain Cut, un quartier de Freetown, il a photographié certaines de ses créations. Parfois hérissées de piquants de porc-épic, ces créatures acquièrent, dans ses images, une présence sculpturale presque monumentale, à la frontière entre le corps, le masque et l’objet. Ces photographies s’inscrivent dans ses séries Sierra Devils et From Africa with Love.
